Kita Sebenarnya Boleh

Diceritakan, ada seorang pembuat jam yang berkata kepada jam yang sedang dibuatnya. "Wahai jam. sanggupkah kamu berdetik paling tidak sebanyak 31,104,000 kali selama setahun?"

Jam itu terperanjat. "Berapa? 31 juta kali? Oh, minta maaf tuan! Saya tak sanggup berdetik juta-juta kali selama setahun."

Pembuat jam berkata lagi, "Baiklah. Kalau begitu, sanggupkah kamu berdetik sebanyak 86,4000 kali dalam satu hari?".

Apabila jam mendengar angka yang besar itu, jam pun berkata. "Tak sanggup, tuan!" Saya tak mampu. Tengoklah jarum pada badan saya yang ramping ini, mana mungkin mampu berdetik sampai berpuluh ribu kali sehari, tuan."


Pembuat jam berkata lagi, "Bagaimana pula kalau kamu berdetik 3,600 kali dalam satu jam?"

Jam menjawab, "Satu jam 3,600 kali berdetik? Masih tidak sanggup, tuan. Badan saya ini kecil sahaja", kata jam.

Tukang jam dengan penuh kesabaran terus memujuk, "Kalau begitu wahai jam, sanggupkah kamu berdetik sekali sahaja setiap saat?"

Jam segera menjawab, "Kalu sekali sahaja sesaat saya sanggup, tuan."

Setelah selesai perbincangan, jam itu pun berfungsilah dan jam itu berdetik sekali setiap satu detik. Tanpa disedari, detik demi detik terus berlalu. Ternyata jam itu luar biasa kerana selama setahun penuh ia tidak pernah berhenti berdetik. Ia berjaya berdetik sebanyak 31,104,000 kali selama setahun.

Apakah iktibar yang boleh kita ambil daripada kisah di atas?

Adakalanya kita terlalu ragu-ragu dengan kemampuan yang ada pada diri kita. Mungkin mula-mula dengar tugasan yang diamanahkah kepada kita itu terasa berat atau sulit sehingga kita rasa tidak mampu melaksanakannya. Berat untuk kita melakukannya. Namun apabila kita sudah melakukan tugasan tersebut ternyata kita mampu. 

Sebenarnya tidak ada perkara yang mustahil dalam kehidupan kita ini. Semuanya boleh dilakukan kalau kita ada kemahuan. Yang penting, jangan sekali-kali kita mengatakan "tidak" dalam melakukan sesuatu pekerjaan.

Industry 4.0

First came steam and the first machines that mechanized some of the work our ancestors did.

Next was electricity, the assembly line and the birth of mass production.

The third era of industry came about with the advent of computers and the beginnings of automation, when robots and machines began to replace human workers on those assembly lines.

And now we enter Industry 4.0, in which computers and automation will come together in an entirely new way, with robotics connected remotely to computer systems equipped with machine learning algorithms that can learn and control the robotics with very little input from human operators.


Industry 4.0 introduces what has been called the “smart factory,” in which cyber-physical systems monitor the physical processes of the factory and make decentralized decisions. The physical systems become Internet of Things, communicating and cooperating both with each other and with humans in real time via the wireless web.

For a factory or system to be considered Industry 4.0, it must include:
Interoperability — machines, devices, sensors and people that connect and communicate with one another.

Information transparency — the systems create a virtual copy of the physical world through sensor data in order to contextualize information.

Technical assistance — both the ability of the systems to support humans in making decisions and solving problems and the ability to assist humans with tasks that are too difficult or unsafe for humans.

Decentralized decision-making — the ability of cyber-physical systems to make simple decisions on their own and become as autonomous as possible.
But as with any major shift, there are challenges inherent in adopting an Industry 4.0 model:


  • Data security issues are greatly increased by integrating new systems and more access to those systems. Additionally, proprietary production knowledge becomes an IT security problem as well.
  • A high degree of reliability and stability are needed for successful cyber-physical communication that can be difficult to achieve and maintain.
  • Maintaining the integrity of the production process with less human oversight could become a barrier.
  • Loss of high-paying human jobs is always a concern when new automations are introduced.
  • And avoiding technical problems that could cause expensive production outages is always a concern.


Additionally, there is a systemic lack of experience and manpower to create and implement these systems — not to mention a general reluctance from stakeholders and investors to invest heavily in new technologies.

But the benefits of an Industry 4.0 model could outweigh the concerns for many production facilities. In very dangerous working environments, the health and safety of human workers could be improved dramatically.

Supply chains could be more readily controlled when there is data at every level of the manufacturing and delivery process. Computer control could produce much more reliable and consistent productivity and output.  And the results for many businesses could be increased revenues, market share, and profits.

Reports have even suggested that emerging markets like India could benefit tremendously from Industry 4.0 practices, and the city of Cincinnati, Ohio has declared itself an “Industry 4.0 demonstration city” to encourage investment and innovation in the manufacturing sector there.

The question, then, is not if Industry 4.0 is coming, but how quickly. As with big data and other business trends, I suspect that the early adopters will be rewarded for their courage jumping into this new technology, and those who avoid change risk becoming irrelevant and left behind.

If you plant honesty, you will reap trust

In the Far East, the emperor was growing old and knew it was time to choose his successor. Instead of choosing one of his assistants or his children, he decided to do something different. He called young people in the kingdom together one day. He said, “It is time for me to step down and choose the next emperor. I have decided to choose one of you.”

The children were shocked, but the emperor continued. “I am going to give each one of you a seed today – one very special seed. I want you to plant the seed, water it, and come back here one year from today with what you have grown from this one seed. I will then judge the plants that you bring, and the one I choose will be the next emperor.”

One boy, named Ling, was there that day and he, like the others, received a seed. He went home and excitedly, told his mother the story. She helped him get a pot and planting soil, and he planted the seed and watered it, carefully. Everyday, he would water it and watch to see if it had grown. After about three weeks, some of the other youths began to talk about their seeds and the plants that were beginning to grow.

Ling kept checking his seed, but nothing ever grew. Three weeks, four weeks, five weeks went by, still nothing. By now, others were talking about their plants, but Ling didn’t have a plant and he felt like a failure. Six months went by — still nothing in Ling’s pot.

He just knew he had killed his seed. Everyone else had trees and tall plants, but he had nothing. Ling didn’t say anything to his friends, however. He just kept waiting for his seed to grow. A year finally went by and all the youths of the kingdom brought their plants to the emperor for inspection. Ling told his mother that he wasn’t going to take an empty pot. But his mother asked him to be honest about what happened.

Ling felt sick at his stomach, but he knew his mother was right. He took his empty pot to the palace. When Ling arrived, he was amazed at the variety of plants grown by the other youths. They were beautiful — in all shapes and sizes. Ling put his empty pot on the floor and many of the other children laughed at him. A few felt sorry for him and just said, “Hey, nice try.”

When the emperor arrived, he surveyed the room and greeted the young people. Ling just tried to hide in the back. “My, what great plants, trees, and flowers you have grown,” said the emperor. “Today one of you will be appointed the next emperor!”

All of a sudden, the emperor spotted Ling at the back of the room with his empty pot. He ordered his guards to bring him to the front. Ling was terrified. He thought, “The emperor knows I’m a failure! Maybe he will have me killed!”

When Ling got to the front, the Emperor asked his name. “My name is Ling,” he replied. All the kids were laughing and making fun of him. The emperor asked everyone to quiet down. He looked at Ling, and then announced to the crowd, “Behold your new emperor! His name is Ling!”

Ling couldn’t believe it. Ling couldn’t even grow his seed. How could he be the new emperor?

Then the emperor said, “One year ago today, I gave everyone here a seed. I told you to take the seed, plant it, water it, and bring it back to me today. But I gave you all boiled seeds that would not grow. All of you, except Ling, have brought me trees and plants and flowers. When you found that the seed would not grow, you substituted another seed for the one I gave you. Ling was the only one with the courage and honesty to bring me a pot with my seed in it. Therefore, he Is the one who will be the new emperor!”

If you plant honesty, you will reap trust. If you plant goodness, you will reap friends. If you plant humility, you will reap greatness. If you plant perseverance, you will reap victory. If you plant consideration, you will reap harmony. If you plant hard work, you will reap success. If you plant forgiveness, you will reap reconciliation. If you plant faith, you will reap miracles.

So be careful what you plant, now; it will determine what you will reap tomorrow. The seeds you now scatter will make life worse or better for you or for the ones who will come after you. Someday you will enjoy the fruits or you will pay for the choices you make.

1,500 Malaysian SMEs to be chosen for listing on AliBaba.com

A total of 1,500 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) will be listed on the AliBaba.com e-commerce platform by year-end, said International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed.


I'm assuming that most if not all of the SME selected will the those that are producing their own products. A service provider like Pasti Nyala will get no chance. I'm just hoping that there will be hundred of SMEs for Sarawak selected for the listing. SMEs producing Sarawak Kek Lapis, Bird Nest, Laksa Paste and herbal products have better chance.

International Trade and Industry Minister said the selection of the eligible SMEs, with a diverse product range, would be carried out throughout the country from Oct 01, 2017.

The selection process will be conducted by SME Corp Malaysia, the Malaysia Digital Economy Corp and the Malaysia External Trade Development Corp, he told reporters after launching the national-level SME Week 2017 from May 4 until May 26 in Kuala Terengganu on Thursday.

He said the AliBaba.com listing would use the Digital Free Trade Zone (DFTZ) as its marketing platform.

“We are confident that Alibaba’s investment will be a catalyst to boost the performance of the SMEs in order to penetrate foreign markets,” he said.

Inner Strengths

It's like a norm that I received excuses from staffs and even some seniors that certain tasks cannot be carried out. For example, I have never done these sort of tasks before, I haven't done server before, I haven't configured this and that before, I have no knowledge of accounting, no knowledge of HR and the list goes on.

Those are on the surface excuses but deep inside, everyone has the inner strengths and capabilities to learn and tackle the challenges and produce results.

Read further to reflect those hidden inner strengths.

ONCE, All villagers decided to pray for rain, on the day of prayer all the People gathered but only one boy came with an umbrella.  That's *FAITH*

WHEN You throw a baby in the air, she laughs because she knows you will catch her. That's *TRUST*

EVERY Night we go to bed, without any assurance of being alive the next Morning but still we set the alarms to wake up. That's *HOPE*

WE Plan big things for tomorrow in spite of zero knowledge of the future. That's *CONFIDENCE*

WE See the world suffering. But still we get Married or have a relationship. That's *LOVE*

We need Continual Improvement but How?

Japanese culture promotes the value of remaining active and staying focused on your goals. If you are lazy though, this can be challenging. For that very reason, Japan uses an amazing technique to make sure a person’s laziness does not get in the way of their goals.

Kaizen, the Japanese one minute principle, focuses on people taking a single minute out of their day to practice something that will benefit them in the end. The catch is, this one minute practice should be held at the same exact time every day to promote some discipline.

An example to all Team Pasti Nyala members, spend a least a minute a day to review your TASKPAD. Review those outstanding tasks and follow-up accordingly.

The real shining feature of Kaizen is the fact that even the laziest person out there can sacrifice a single minute a day to do something positive for themselves. While hour long, or even half hour long tasks may seem daunting and hard to begin, sacrificing a single minute a day can ultimately build towards something really great. At the same time, lazy individuals do not feel like they are making a huge sacrifice by spending this minute every day towards a specific task.

Kaizen is a method that works for practically anything, and that is what makes it so amazing. Whether you just want to do jumping jacks for a minute every day, or read a new book, or learn a new language, these minutes will add up overtime and produce incredible results.

Kaizen is also a great way to overcome the lack of self confidence that may come with trying to accomplish something new. While it may feel scary to dedicate an entire hour every day to working out, a person can easily work out for one minute every day and still do something good for themselves in the process.



Invented by Masaaki Imai, the Kaizen principle is a perfect way to start something. Do not let the short daily duration reduce the value of this principle, because when these minutes add up over weeks, months, and years, you will have accomplished something great.

Kaizen is something often seen utilized in the professional world, where giving a minute every day for a specific task was found to be a greatly beneficial management technique. This same principle can easily be applied to anybody’s life, and it can be a great way to start increasing your daily productivity!
